Ashcan School

The Ashcan School was an early Twentieth Century artistic movement that portrayed the poorer New York City neighborhoods and the lives of those who lived there. Viewed as a truth telling of real life in a modern city, which at that point in time was a neglected genre, this gallery of art includes many paintings of industry, city architecture and blue collar daily life.
