Thomas Hart Benton Art Prints

Thomas Hart Benton (1889 - 1975) was a major American painter and muralist from Missouri. He was born in a small town Neosho, into a family of leftist career politicians.

Benton was one of the very few artists to ever to have his self-portrait printed on the cover of Time, The Weekly News magazine for December 24, 1934. He began his art education in The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and continued at the Académie Julian of Paris.

Thomas Hart Benton served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Norfolk, VA. Military related work affected his early style of modernism. He later distanced himself from modernism followed what is known as American Regionalism art movement.
