Johann Berthelsen Collection
Introducing the Johann Berthelsen Limited Edition Print Collection.
Johann Berthelsen occupies a unique place in the ranks of 20th century Impressionist painters. The New York snow scenes, which are among his most famous works, exude a color, warmth, and excitement that appeal to both the casual art lover and the sophisticated connoisseur.
Now, Encore Editions, in cooperation with The Johann Berthelsen Conservancy, LLC, and the artist’s son, Lee Berthelsen, is pleased to offer a limited edition of a number of paintings of the artist’s most beloved works. Selected and produced under the supervision of Mr. Berthelsen and utilizing the latest in graphic imaging and reproduction technology, no effort has been spared in creating prints that faithfully reproduce the color and spirit of the originals.
Only 25 prints of each painting are offered in two available sizes.
In addition to their value as artworks, these prints chronicle a golden age in the history of New York. Painted in the period 1930 to 1965, they reflect the vibrancy and color of the Empire City. Filled with details ranging from noted landmarks to traditional “shepherd’s crook” streetlights, rushing buses, taxis, and pedestrians, they are the ideal accessory or gift for anyone who knows and loves New York.
In his lifetime, Johann Berthelsen’s work was collected by notable individuals ranging from Dag Hammarskjöld and William Randolph Hearst to Frank Sinatra and Ethel Merman. In recent years, prices have risen dramatically as collectors worldwide have sought out the scarce originals. Now, thanks to Encore Editions and The Johann Berthelsen Conservancy, LLC, these magnificent works have been made accessible to the wider art-loving public.
